With lush, soulful sampled beats by the likes of DJ Premier, Ski, and Clark Kent, Jay-Z was able to drop narrative lyrics depicting the lifestyle of a hustler. From the lyrics to the beats, nothing is missed or left out by the artists or the producers. In the beginning it was absolutely misunderstood.” Jay-Z really hit a major point with this statement in why it took so long for people to catch on to the album as a classic and to really cherish its value. On the Classic Albums: Reasonable Doubt DVD, Jay-Z states in regards to the album initial response from critics upon release in 1996, “…In the beginning people wrote it off as just another type of that record, a gangster persona. From the pounding heartbeats on the onset of “Can’t Knock The Hustle” to the “Roc-A-Fella y’all” echoing on the fade of “Regrets”, Jay-Z takes you on a journey with words weaving inside and out of the life of a hustler. This includes all of the other landmark albums in his catalog like The Blueprint (2001) and The Black Album (2003). Jay-Z’s debut album is considered to be one of his best, if not the best, album he has released to date. This album that I am referring to is Jay-Z seminal classic Reasonable Doubt. But out of all of these incredible albums is one that has indefinitely stood the test of time over 12 years later. Albums that were released during this amazing year include: It Was Written (Nas), All Eyez On Me (2Pac), The Score (Fugees), Ironman (Ghostface Killah), and many more. You want to know some stuff about the dude, HIT THE STAFF PAGE UP! But once again lets all give SBK a round of applause! (CLAPS) NOW GET YO ASS OFF THE STAGE AND GET TO WORK!!! – King Jermġ996, one of the best years in the golden age of Hip-Hop, was when many albums released that were immediately deemed classics and now stand established as timeless standards for many of today’s releases. We also added another member to the squad. click yes if u think this person should be slapped. We’ve expanded! The redesign isn’t the only thing that we’ve been working on. they gave one of the best rap albums of all time 1 star cuz of no explicit labels. i got it on cd but bought it again here because it is so goodĪnother thing anyone who has a problem with itunes service (like if an album is released late or doesnt have explicit tags) DONT RATE THE ALBUM ONE STAR! RATE THE MUSIC – NOT THE SERVICE! givin albums like this one star is a disgrace Reasonable Doubt proudly stands as one of the 4 greatest hip-hop albums – next to illmatic, life after death, and all eyez on me. The theme of this whole album is so intense that the album feels very much alive once you listen to it. Who ever has NOT listened to this cd yet, raise your right hand, turn it sideways, and smack yourself in the face now because this is one of the best Hip-Hop albums ever created. His lyrical talent is way too complex for the amateur Hip-Hop listeners. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Jay-Z's BEST WORK.

The young rapper had been waiting 27 years to tell this story, and there isn’t a measure misplaced. It remains his most consistent album because it was the only time Jigga made no compromises. Reasonable Doubt is the one album Jay-Z created before having to contend with multi-platinum pressures and superstar responsibilities. Listening to him is like watching a rookie point guard slip past veteran giants. He had spent years honing his rhyme craft, and he moves through every song with swiftness and self-assurance. But unlike the wizened admonishments of a rapper like Scarface (whose influence looms large on Reasonable Doubt), Jay-Z would never sound younger than he does here. “Regrets” is a song of a man re-examining his past, not grabbing at the flash of the future. Age 27 when his debut was released, Jay-Z was much older than most rappers releasing a debut album and the depth of his life experience brings a gravitas to Reasonable Doubt that few rappers could achieve in 1996. As sleek as the leather interior of a luxury Lexus sedan, Reasonable Doubt enacts the glamorous dreams of every young rapper with the cool demeanor and acumen of Don Corleone.
